Soroptimist International Provides Support
for 2nd All Girls Tournament of the Year

Thanks to the gracious support of Soroptomist International of Oakland, we were able to have a bonus All Girls Tournament on May 21, 2005. This gave everyone a chance for more chess and more trophies! Our top winners, Apoorva Rangan and Angela Gu, definitely took advantage. Apoorva is a veteran of BCS All Girls tournaments, having worked her way up from sixth place in early 2003 to this year's convincing win in the upper division. Along the way, she beat the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th place finishers for her 4-0 perfect score. Way to go, Apoorva!

In the lower division, Angela Gu looks like she'll be a force for years to come. This second grader came in second place in her first All Girls tournament and now four months later she's the champ of the younger division. Angela also went 4-0, defeating the 2nd and 3rd place finishers along the way. You can see all the overall winners and grade level winners below.

We'd also like to give many thanks to the parents who helped with setup and cleanup on Saturday.
